3 CREDIT HOURS Prerequisites: ENG* K101 or ENG* K101S; MAT* K137 or MAT* K137S; BIO* K121; CHE* K111 or CHE* K121. This course is designed to cover the basic concepts of genetics, including the theory of chromosomes, classical Mendelian inheritance, principles of human genetics, the genetic code, the role of the nucleic acids in gene expression, genetic mutations, and topics in modern genetics in areas such as recombinant DNA, biotechnology, gene mapping and diagnosis of human genetic disease.
